Mission
GEORGIA INDUSTRY ENVIRONMENTAL COALITION (GIEC) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION OF GEORGIA INDUSTRIES. GIEC'S MISSION IS TO SERVE AS A TECHNICALLY-BASED ADVOCATE FOR GEORGIA INDUSTRY BY PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS AND POLICIES FOUNDED ON PROTECTION OF HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT, SOUND SCIENCE AND COST/BENEFIT PRINCIPLES.
Program accomplishments
- WORKGROUPS MEET AND DRAW ON MEMBER COMPANY AND OUTSIDE EXPERTISE TO DELIBERATE AND COMMENT ON PROPOSED ENVIRONMENTAL RULES AND REGULATORY POLICIES. WRITTEN COMMENTS ARE MOST OFTEN TIMES SUBMITTED TO THE GEORGIA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DIVISION. OTHER TIMES, GIEC PREPARES AND SUBMITS COMMENTS TO THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY.
- GIEC FACILITATES MEETINGS THROUGOUT THE YEAR AMONG ITS MEMBERS, AND BETWEEN ITS MEMBERS AND THE GEORGIA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DIVISION TO EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROTECTING GEORGIA'S ENVIRONMENT AND GROWING A STRONG ECONOMY.
