From the Ground Up Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc. (FTGU) offers Equine Assisted Activities/Therapy to persons of all abilities, life challenges and stages.
Program accomplishments
- THERAPEUTIC RIDING (TR) Therapeutic Riding is an adapted riding lesson program that addresses physical, cognitive, social & educational goals through working with and riding horses. Participants are screened through medical clearance from their healthcare providers, family/caregiver application and assessment by From The Ground Up (FTGU) staff. Sessions typically take place once a week for 30-60 minutes, depending upon the rider's tolerance and instructor discretion. In 2024, we served 6 riders in this program who rode for all of our three riding seasons, spring, summer and fall. Three riders improved communication with the horse as well as with volunteers. One participant improved coordination and mood. One rider improved impulse regulation as well as the above mentioned outcomes. Three other riders improved independence, attention and coordination.Expenses $28,210
