TO ADVOCATE AND PROMOTE THE HEALTH OF SPARTANBURG, CHEROKEE, AND UNION COUNTY CHILDREN THROUGH COMMUNITY DENTAL HEALTH SCREENINGS, EDUCATION, AND ORAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR QUALIFYING CHILDREN AT NO COST TO THEIR FAMILIES.

- HEALTHY SMILES PROVIDED COMPREHENSIVE PEDIATRIC DENTAL CARE TO 1,053 UNDUPLICATED UNINSURED AND UNDER SERVED CHILDREN THROUGH ITS FREE DENTAL CLINIC THIS FISCAL YEAR. SERVICES INCLUDED DENTAL EXAMS, CLEANINGS, SEALANTS, FILLINGS, CROWNS, EXTRACTIONS, RADIOGRAPHS, AND PREVENTATIVE EDUCATION. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO COORDINATED SPECIALTY REFERRALS FOR ADVANCED RESTORATIVE AND SEDATION SERVICES WHEN CLINICALLY NECESSARY. THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT, TRANSPORTATION COORDINATION, TRANSLATION SUPPORT, AND APPOINTMENT REMINDER SYSTEM, HEALTHY SMILES REDUCED BARRIERS TO CARE AND STRENGTHENED CONTINUITY OF TREATMENT FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.Expenses $457,457
- HEALTHY SMILES CONDUCTED SCHOOL-BASED ORAL HEALTH SCREENINGS FOR 25,136 CHILDREN ACROSS 93 SCHOOLS IN SPARTANBURG, CHEROKEE, AND UNION COUNTIES DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR. EVERY CHILD SCREENED RECEIVED A FREE TOOTHBRUSH, ORAL HEALTH EDUCATION, AND TAKE-HOME EDUCATION MATERIALS DESIGNED TO REINFORCE HEALTHY HABITS WITH CAREGIVERS. STUDENTS IDENTIFIED WITH URGENT OR UNMET DENTAL NEEDS WERE CONNECTED TO FOLLOW-UP CARE THROUGH HEALTHY SMILES OR COMMUNITY DENTAL PARTNERS, HELPING IMPROVE ACCESS TO PREVENTATIVE ADN RESTORATIVE SERVICES FOR UNINSURED CHILDREN.Expenses $34,448
