Mission

Learning in Retirement offers classes for senior citizens in the Coachella Valley that are tailored to their unique needs by inspiring, educating, and entertaining. All of our board members, teachers, and staff are non-paid volunteers. Classes are presented in classrooms or via Zoom. We have three semesters that are six weeks in length and are offered from November to April.

Program accomplishments

  • Since our start 20 years ago, with two classes, we have grown to more than twenty-six classes in our last spring session that were attended by nearly 200 students. By providing the important service of classes to seniors in our area, we make a major contribution to the greater Coachella Valley community. When the pandemic struck the classes were moved to online. Classes will move back to the classrooms or continue online post-Covid. Over the years, we have developed a mutually-beneficial relationship with the College of the Desert that will serve us well in the future.
