<ExplanationTxt>Missionaries of Jesus Healing Soul and Body respectfully requests that any penalty associated with the late filing of its 2025 Form 990-EZ be waived based on reasonable cause and not willful neglect. The organization prepared and completed its 2025 Form 990-EZ and mailed the signed return to the Internal Revenue Service on May 2nd, 2026. The return was submitted in good faith with the intention of fully satisfying the organization's annual reporting obligation. At the time of submission, the organization mistakenly believed that filing the completed return by mail was an acceptable method of filing. The organization was not attempting to avoid or delay its reporting responsibilities, and the return was not withheld because of missing financial information or an unwillingness to comply. The organization subsequently received an IRS letter dated July 27th, 2026 advising that the paper return could not be processed because Form 990-EZ was required to be filed electronically. Before receiving that notice, the organization believed that its filing obligation had been satisfied through the mailing of the completed paper return. Upon learning that electronic filing was mandatory, the organization acted promptly to correct the method of submission. It obtained access to an authorized electronic filing service, entered and reviewed the required information, and electronically submitted the complete 2025 Form 990-EZ on August 5th, 2026. The organization made this correction as soon as reasonably possible after receiving the IRS notice. The delay resulted from a good-faith misunderstanding concerning the required method of filing rather than from willful neglect, intentional disregard of the filing requirement, or a failure to prepare the return. The organization exercised ordinary care by preparing the required return, signing it, and attempting to submit it to the IRS. Once informed that the attempted paper filing was not acceptable, the organization took immediate corrective action. To prevent this situation from recurring, Missionaries of Jesus Healing Soul and Body has updated its filing procedures to require electronic filing of all future Forms 990-EZ through an authorized provider. It will maintain a calendar of applicable filing deadlines, begin preparation sufficiently in advance, and retain confirmation that each electronically filed return has been accepted by the IRS. Based on the organization's good-faith filing attempt, its prompt correction after receiving notice, and the procedures now implemented to prevent recurrence, the organization respectfully requests a finding of reasonable cause and waiver of any penalty under Internal Revenue Code section 6652(c)(1)(A). I declare under penalties of perjury that the foregoing statements are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.</ExplanationTxt>
