<PrimaryExemptPurposeTxt>The Youth Enrichment Learning Center, Inc. (YELC) is an invaluable year-round educational facility that serves children aged 5 to 18 from low to middle-income families. Recognizing these children's unique challenges, YELC is committed to enhancing their proficiency in critical academic subjects, helping them develop into exceptional students. The center operates two primary programs: the Enrichment & Restoration After School program and the SANDALS Academic Recreation Summer Camp. These programs are meticulously designed to bolster essential Math, Reading, English Language Arts, and Science skills. The after-school program provides a structured environment where students can receive additional academic support, while the summer camp offers a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for learning during the break. <DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>YELC has set ambitious goals for the upcoming academic year, focusing on significant enhancements in the educational performance of its students, particularly in Math and Reading. Recent analysis of the Winter MAP scores indicates that a promising trend is emerging, with over 50% of participants projected to achieve average or above-average scores. This statistic reflects the effectiveness of the tutorial programs in place, which are designed to address the specific needs of students and foster an environment conducive to learning and growth. In addition to academic achievements, YELC recognizes the importance of developing social skills and boosting self-esteem among its students. The center is committed to creating a supportive atmosphere where students feel empowered to overcome challenges and succeed in and out of the classroom. By focusing on social behavior and interpersonal skills, YELC aims to cultivate a new generation of learners who excel academically and serve as ambassadors for educational success within their communities. The center has implemented a comprehensive action plan tailored to each student's needs to facilitate these improvements. This plan includes targeted interventions based on the data collected from MAP Growth Test results and ongoing assessments of students' progress in various subjects. The tutorial programs are designed to encourage consistent attendance, with the expectation that students who commit to attending at least three times a week will experience higher growth percentiles, particularly in Math and Reading. While the center is still awaiting complete MAP Growth Test results for all students, preliminary data suggests that many are excelling in certain areas while requiring additional support in others. For example, the analysis of Winter MAP scores reveals that in Math, 36.4% of students fall into the low achievement category, while 27.3% are classified as low average achievement. In Reading, the numbers are similar, with 45.5% of students achieving low average and 27.3% achieving low scores. The Language Usage assessment, limited to grades 2-5, shows a similar trend. 45.5% of students perform at a low achievement level, while 27.3% fall into the low average category. However, incomplete submissions for Language Usage assessments have made evaluating student performance in this area challenging. We have included our Tutorial Report to showcase the progress made while participating in our program. This report highlights students who come from Public Housing. Overall, YELC remains dedicated to monitoring student progress closely and adjusting its strategies as necessary to ensure that each child receives the support they need to thrive. This commitment to personalized education and holistic development is central to YELC's mission of fostering academic excellence and social responsibility among its students.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>Youth Enrichment Learning Center, Inc.'s Form 990-EZ for fiscal year 2024 was filed after its original due date, and we want to address that directly rather than let it pass unexplained. Timely, accurate financial reporting is not a formality to us - it is part of how we earn and keep the trust of the families we serve, the Brunswick Housing Authority, and every funder who invests in our work. We owe this Foundation the same candor. The delay was the result of a transition in the organization's accounting support. YELC changed bookkeeping and tax preparers during the filing period, and the handoff of financial records between preparers took longer to complete than anticipated - longer than it should have. As a young, still-growing nonprofit, YELC did not yet have the financial administrative redundancy to absorb that kind of transition without delaying the filing itself. We want to be equally direct about what this delay was not. It was not the result of financial mismanagement, insolvency, or any unwillingness to meet our obligations to the IRS. YELC's FY2024 return has since been completed, filed, and accepted, and the organization remains in good standing under Section 501(c)(3). Our underlying financial position in that same filing - zero liabilities and positive net income - reflects an organization that has consistently lived within its means, even in the year a single filing fell behind schedule. We have since taken concrete steps to prevent this from happening again: YELC has established a continuing relationship with a single accounting preparer rather than transitioning mid-cycle, and our Board Treasurer now reviews a standing compliance calendar each quarter that flags upcoming filing deadlines well in advance. We share this history because a late filing, left unexplained, can look worse than it was - and because we believe funders deserve the full picture, not just its favorable parts. A five-year track record of continuous operation, a debt-free balance sheet, and a Board that now actively monitors compliance timelines are, we believe, the more accurate measure of how seriously YELC takes its stewardship of every dollar entrusted to it, including yours.</ExplanationTxt>
