Part VI, Line 19 The organization typically reviews its year-end financials at the Annual Banquet held for all its members. The governing documents are outlined in a handbook. We would like to respectfully request an exemption from the penalties associated with the late filing of taxes for the Columbia Youth Hockey Inc (dba Howard County Youth Hockey Club [HCYHC]). For context, there has been significant turnover in the role of Treasurer, with new individuals in that role each year for the past three years. The lack of training and experience in filing tax forms, combined with the frequent transition, made it incredibly difficult for the new treasurer each year to understand what and how to file. They made several attempts, but were never able to finalize the filing and instead passed it to the next treasurer. This year (2026), HCYHC recognized that the problem was not getting better and reached out to a tax professional. To avoid similar problems in the future, HCYHC is committed to working with tax professionals prospectively until the position of Treasurer either has more consistency or documented processes and procedures and would be able to file the annual tax forms on their own.
