They operated 52 weeks, 4 days per week, including holidays. MHCAN is limited to 50 participants per day by the city. On the vast majority of days, we had 50 people and had to turn even more people away. Most people would come in the morning and stay the entire 6 hours we were open. MHCAN provided individual support, support groups, a computer room, food, showers, and laundry facilities. MHCAN served as a distribution center for the local food bank. We also provided transportation to and from the center for people living in mental health facilities. 75% of those we served between 2022 and 2025 were unhoused. Then, the 990 is reviewed at the board meeting where individuals can ask questions. If there is anything the treasurer cannot answer, the treasurer goes back to the accountant and brings the answers to the next board meeting. The review is documented in the board minutes. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The policy is that Board members cannot have interests that influence their decisions on the board. These include financial interests. Board members are not compensated for their work in any way. If any other conflicts arise that could affect their decisions on the board, board members are directed to inform the Executive Director and other board members immediately. Board members are asked to attest that they don't have conflicts, both at the beginning of their board membership and again annually.
