Due to problems with the prior years financial officers and the lack of complete turnover of records, it took longer than expected to gather all documents needed to have an audit completed by our National auditor and the IRS filing prepared. In years past, the organization filed a 990N which you cannot file an extension for, but is not penalized monetarily for late filing. It was not realized until after the filing deadline that the organization had more than $50,000 in income and bumped it up to a 990EZ.
