Once a fund agreement is in place with an organization, the Foundation will receive funds from the organization and invest the funds. Use of the invested funds is subject to the same policies as other funds at the Foundation, such as the investment and grantwriting policies. Part V, Line 4: The Foundation's endowment consists of 198 funds which have been established by numerous community donors for a variety of purposes, each of which has been designed to inure to the benefit of the communities in the Foundation's service region. During the year ended June 30, 2026, the Foundation identified $4,144,262 of funds which had historically been reported as agency fund liabilities but should have been reported as donor-restricted net assets. For that reason, the beginning balance for the year ended June 30, 2026 is not in agreement with the ending balance for the year ended June 30, 2025. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation is organized as a Kansas nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal income taxes under IRC Section 501(a) as an organization described in IRC Section 501(c)(3). Further, the Foundation qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under IRC Sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and (viii) and has been determined not to be a private foundation under IRC Sections 509(a)(1). The Foundation is annually required to file a Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax (Form 990) with the IRS.
