The organization's internal QuickBooks records reflect a higher cash-basis equity balance of $95,158.86 at December 31, 2024. The variance of $2,835.86 is attributable to two items carried in the organization's equity accounts that were not reflected on the 2024 Form 990-EZ: (1) a $1,540.00 debit balance in account 30020 (Prior Period Adjustments) recorded by a prior bookkeeper, for which supporting documentation is unavailable; and (2) $1,295.86 of payroll-tax liability and other balance-sheet timing differences existing at December 31, 2024 that arose during a transition between bookkeepers under the organization's cash basis of accounting. This variance is reconciled to the organization's books through Line 20 (below), so that ending net assets on Line 21 agree with the organization's Statement of Financial Position.</ExplanationTxt>

After this reconciling adjustment, ending net assets on Line 21 ($87,308) agree with total equity reported on the organization's Statement of Financial Position at December 31, 2025.</ExplanationTxt>

During 2025 the payroll-tax liabilities were satisfied through routine tax remittances and year-end clean-up journal entries; a net $419.19 prior-period correction was posted directly to Retained Earnings on December 31, 2025 to clear residual balances that did not represent a true obligation of the organization. <ExplanationTxt>In 2025, Asheville Movement Collective (AMC) celebrated 26 years of cultivating safe, inclusive spaces for free-form movement, community engagement, and personal transformation, and the past 14 years as a 501(c)(3) organization. Ongoing Community Offerings AMC maintained its core weekly programming, hosting two free-form movement events every Sunday morning and one on Friday evenings, serving approximately 16,171 adults and 401 children throughout the year. These events included structured openings focused on consent culture, community guidelines, and the encouragement of authentic, expressive movement. AMC continued to welcome intergenerational participation, with dancers ranging from young children (under parental supervision) to elders aged 80 and beyond. AMC also continued its partnership with Warren Wilson College, offering free movement experiences for students and staff as part of a broader educational collaboration that promotes embodiment, consent, and community connection. Organizational Development & Leadership Pathways AMC made strategic efforts to refine governance structures, improve volunteer engagement, and maintain transparency and accountability while reducing administrative burdens. In 2025 we: -Activated new leadership pathways, welcoming 2 new Dance Event Facilitators and 2 new Room Coordinators. -Logged over 3,900 volunteer hours across all areas of AMC's operation. -Restructured our sociocracy circles, creating more focused meetings and improved decision making processes Community Partnerships and Fundraising -AMC hosted fundraising events benefiting several local nonprofits including: -Center for Conscious Living and Dying -Beloved Asheville -Brother Wolf Asheville AMC also upheld its "No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds" policy, which helps about 20% of our dancers attend dances for $5 or less, and continues to inspire financial generosity from participants who are able to contribute above the suggested donation, helping to ensure equitable access to all events. Facilities and Childcare Program AMC's relationship with Evergreen Community Charter School remained strong. The school renewed our rental agreement, continuing to host our events. AMC's free childcare program remained a pillar of inclusion, hiring local childcare providers at a living wage and offering assistant roles for Red Cross-trained teens, supporting workforce development for youth in our community. The presence of children, parents, and elders dancing together affirms AMC's vision of an intergenerational community in movement, fostering belonging and joy across age and experience. Strategic Vision and Infrastructure Planning -Applied for grant opportunities for expanding programming to underserved communities and our childcare program Implemented a successful fundraising strategy to support No one Turned Away policy -Developing a sustainable business plan for growth -Appointed an Equity and Inclusion Ambassador AMC has recognized the need for additional staffing to support this work and aims to expand its fundraising and strategic development capacity in 2026. Closing Reflection Despite economic challenges, 2025 was a year of resilience and vision for Asheville Movement Collective. Our commitment to community, embodiment, equity, and transformation has never been stronger. As we step into 2026, AMC continues to envision and co-create a world that moves in harmony-both on and beyond the dance floor.</ExplanationTxt>
