Part V, Line 4: The Foundation's endowment consists of a series of individual funds established by donors for a variety of charitable purposes which benefit the southeast region of Kansas. During 2024, the Foundation identified an error in the reporting of the endowment funds for prior tax years where agency funds were included but should not have been. The Foundation corrected this matter for the 2024 tax year column but has maintained the prior year tax columns (2021 to 2023) in Part V. Due to this matter, the ending balance of the 2023 tax year does not agree with the beginning balance of the 2024 tax year. Part X, Line 2: The Organization is organized as a Kansas nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal income taxes under IRC Section 501(a) as an organization described in IRC Section 501(c)(3). Further, the Organization qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under IRC Sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and (viii) and has been determined not to be a private foundation under IRC Sections 509(a)(1). The Organization is annually required to file a Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax (Form 990) with the IRS. In addition, the Organization is subject to income tax on net income that is derived from business activities that are unrelated to its exempt purposes. The activities of the Company and the LLC are consolidated and included in returns filed by the Organization. For the year ended December 31, 2025, the Foundation has determined that it is not subject to unrelated business income tax and has not filed an Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return (Form 990-T) with the IRS. Returns filed by the Organization are subject to IRS examination, generally for three years after each return is filed. No taxing authorities have commenced income tax examinations for open tax years. The Organization evaluates its tax positions in accordance with applicable accounting guidance for uncertainty in income taxes. Management has analyzed the Organization's tax positions and has concluded that no uncertain tax positions were taken that require recognition or disclosure in the accompanying financial statements. Accordingly, no liability for uncertain tax positions has been recorded. The Organization recognizes interest and penalties related to income tax uncertainties, if any, as income tax expense.
