The local chapters are run by volunteers who send their funds to the state organization and pay a processing/funding fee. true Academic Scholarships 71 8000 Pt I Line 2 Scholarships are awarded based on a committees recommendation. Scholarships are disbursed to the university that the student is attending. The university is asked to apply the funds toward tuition, books, room or board. Unused funds or unclaimed funds, if any, aret returned to the Organization. By distributing scholarship monies through the university, the Organization ensures that funds are used for their intended purposes: to assist deseving students in higher education. Pt VI, Line 11b The Form 990 is emailed to the entire Board of Directors for review and final approval through an electronic vote or vote at the Board Meeting. Pt VI, Line 12c A. An interested person may make a presentation at the Governing Board or Committee meeting, but after the presentation the individual must leave the meeting during disscussion of, and vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving a possible conflict of interest. B. The Chairperson of the Governing Board or Committee shall, if appropriate, appoint a disinterested person or committee to investigate alternatives to the proposed transaction or arrangement. C. After exercising due diligence, the Governing Board or Committee shall determine whether Alliance for Pathways Into Engineering (Alliance)can obtain with reasonable effort a more advantageous transaction or arrangement from a person or entity that would not give rise to a conflict of interest. D. If a more advantageous transaction or arrangement is not reasonably possible under the circumstances not producing a conflict of interest, the Governing Board of Committee shall determine by a majority vote of the disinterested directors whether the transaction or arrangement is in the Alliances best interest, for its own benefit, an whether it is fair and reasonable. In conformity with the above determination, it shall make its decision as to whether to enter into the transaction or arrangement. Pt VI, Line 15a Board Chair leads steps needed to complete the executive directors reveiw evaluation. Board Chair conducts performance evaluation with the assistance of the Executive Committee (and/or the Executive Directior performance and salary review subcommittee). They also review key job responsibilities to ensure the are still accurate. Executive Director completes a self evaluation and submits to the Board Chair. Board Chair review with Executive Committee (and/or the Executive Director performance and salary review subcommittee). Board Chair prepares a draft of the review evaluation based on feedback. Draft of review is reviewed by the Executive Committee (and /or Executive Director perfomance and salary review subcommittee). Review evaluation includes rating of the Executive Director key responsibilities, along with comments and examples to support each rating. Results are presented to full Board for approval. Board Chair conducts final evaluation discussion with Executive Director. A copy of the final review is sent to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs of the Univesity of Texas for submittal of the University Appraisal Form to the Engineering HR office. Board Chair also provides a copy of the evaluation to the Executive Director to read and review before the scheduled discussion. Board Chair signs the evaluation. The Executive Director provides any final comments, if desired, and signs evaluation. Executive Committee (and/or the Executive Director performance and salary review subcommittee)recommend whether salary increase is appropriate, along with recommended salary increase. Full Board votes on any salary recommendations. Pt VI, Line 19 The Alliance posts all relevant documents on its website. Form 990s are also available on Candid.
