They are to recuse themselves from decision making and/or voting in situations where they are not independent. 03. Compensation of Executive Director For the current year, Rachel Davis, Who served as Executive Director of the organization, did not receive and compensation from the organization. During this period, she was compensated by the organization's for-profit counterpart, Children's Promise Alvarado, for services rendered. No wages, benefits or other compensation were paid by the non profit organization to Rachel Davis in this tax year. Children's Promise Alvarado is not a related organization under the Schedule R definition because it is not commonly controlled by the same persons who control more than 50% of the organization's governing body. There were no transactions between the organization and Children's Promise Alvarado during the tax year. Form 990, Schedule A, Part I Public Charity Status The organization is classified as a publicly supported organization under section 509(a)(2), consistent with its original IRS determination. For tax years 2020 through 2024, the organization reported its public charity status on Schedule A, Part I, Line 2 (school described in section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii)). Beginning with this tax year, the organization is reporting under Line 10 (section 509(a)(2)), which accurately reflects its public charity classification under the original determination letter and its support structure. The organization's primary activity is the operation of a childcare center serving children and families. The majority of the organization's revenue is derived from gross receipts from activities related to its exempt purpose including private-pay tuition and fee-for-service payments from the State of New Mexico for child care subsidies and PreK programming which is the support pattern 509(a)(2) is designed to recognize. The organization does not have a regular faculty and formal curriculum that would qualify it as a school under section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii).
