The process included a comparison to compensation data for similar positions at comparable nonprofit organizations. The board documented the decision-making process in the meeting minutes in accordance with IRS guidelines for rebuttable presumption of reasonableness. No board members involved in setting the salary had a conflict of interest., 2022| Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The Organization makes all documents publicly available by request to members of the public. He assured us the extension had been submitted and we relied in good faith on his representation. However we later discovered it likely was not filed. Despite repeated follow-up attempts we were unable to reach him in time to complete the return. As a volunteer-run organization with limited financial and administrative resources we depend heavily on outside professionals to ensure compliance. We acted with ordinary business care and prudence in securing help and filed the return as soon as we could once we realized the situation. The penalties imposed would create a significant financial burden and divert essential resources from our charitable programs. We have since taken steps to avoid this issue in the future and respectfully request abatement of all penalties due to reasonable cause.
