It has a state of the art Early Learning Center serving children fourteen months through pre-kindergarten, as well as an academically supportive school-age program for children to age twelve. The Field of Early Childhood is rapidly expanding to meet the changing needs of today's children. Energized by this ever-changing field the staff of Tacoma Day have been taking advantage of the wealth of training materials available. Staff are successfully using their skills to further expand their inclusive classrooms. Tacoma day has always believed in Every Child Every day, now we have the tools to support us. The new protocol that have changed the way we do business are now simply how we do business.For Tacoma Day it is business as usual before and after school care and ECEAP comboned with our early learning program in both our preschool programs combined. One change is some of our children are choosing transitional kindergarten through the school district. This district program serves 4-year-old children.Some data for 2025 at Tacoma Day:* 114 children were served this year. More families need a part-time arrangement and with old tacoma Day ingenuity we were able to accomodate these families.* 5 children identified special needs with IEPs. The school district changed program delivery so that several of these children opted to remain at Tacoma Day in our ECEAP program. We hired additional staff so that each of our preschool teams now contain 4 staff members. This allows for staff to better individualize the program.* Staff conferece with parents helping them get services for their children connecting them with Child Find to develop IEPs, and other community resources.* Our population is also showing signs f change. We are shifting back to an almost 50 percent ratio of Working Connection families. We have noticed that all of our families are facing challenges - losing jobs, housing issues, just meeting daily needs.Our successess:* Our children grow up in a safe healthy learning environment sharing time and adventures with friends. Social emotional growth, so important, is our top priority. The number one item on the list for succeess in life.* Our outstanding food program is available to all. Nutrition, an essential ingredient to strong healthy lifestyle, continues. Our school age children check the menu daily. They know when they return from school, they have a hot lunch/snack waiting for them.* Everyday stress impacts our families more than ever.
