Our teams and families participate in research that advances best practices, optimizes outcomes, and promotes the improvement of listening and spoken language services. Listen and Talk's research leadership leads efforts to influence best practices through contributions to the greater body of knowledge related to services and outcomes for DHH children and youth who rely on listening and spoken language. Form 990, Part I, Line 1 Listen and Talk is a leading nonprofit dedicated to providing listening and spoken language (LSL) education and support for children who are deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) in Western Washington. Since its founding in 1996, the organization has been committed to building a world where no child is limited by hearing loss. Anchored in evidence-based and family-centered practices, families gain knowledge and develop skills that support children with hearing loss in developing strong listening and spoken language skills. Core programs include Audiology, Birth to Three, Blended Classrooms, LSL Therapy, Outreach, Mentoring, and Research. While many of these services are delivered in person, the expertise in virtual service delivery that was essential during the pandemic now allows us to overcome geographic barriers to LSL services. Listen and Talk is recognized for its expertise in LSL education and is a trusted partner in the community, collaborating with local school districts, healthcare providers, county and state agencies, and families to support the needs of their DHH children. Our services ensure that children with hearing level differences have the same opportunities to succeed as their typically hearing peers. When opened in 1996, Listen and Talk had two full-time certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialists serving 13 children. Today, our team includes 30 specially trained service providers serving approximately 275 families across more than 7,000 square miles with the support of leadership/administrative staff. Listen and Talk's specialized programs provide continuous services for families and their DHH children across developmental stages and academic levels, birth through high school.
