During 2024 the organization built the evidence base for its educational materials and best-practice guidance, conducting a literature review covering more than 500 academic papers on psychedelic safety, risk reduction, harm mitigation and ethics, gathering U.S. market and epidemiological data on population-level use patterns, adverse events and demographics, assembling a case study collection documenting psychedelic-related harm incidents and mitigation strategies, and collecting roughly 35,000 first-person reports from public online forums for analysis of safety issues, adverse events and intervention practices. It produced a map of organizations working on or influencing psychedelic safety and drafted typologies of psychedelic-related harms and of practitioner misconduct, circulating both to outside subject matter experts for review. The organization established working relationships with harm reduction organizations, researchers, clinicians, poison control and emergency response bodies, state and federal agencies and advocacy groups, circulated a stakeholder classification system for comment, launched two surveys on psychedelic use in underground, recreational and college campus settings, opened a stakeholder interview program on December 27, 2024 with a target of 100 to 150 participants, and began organizing the Psychedelic Safety Summit, convened March 19 to 21, 2025 at the University of California, Berkeley, for which the venue partnership was in place and roughly 100 participants had committed by year end.
