The organization also designed and delivered a Captain Training program to prepare volunteer leaders to conduct nonpartisan voter education activities in their local congregations and communities. All campaign activities were strictly nonpartisan; the organization did not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. A copy of the return as filed will be provided to the full Board of Directors. The organization intends to adopt a formal board review process for future returns. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon written request to the organization. The organization's mission, guiding principles, and program materials are also published on its public website. This is the organization's first annual return. The organization was recently formed and is operated entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff or professional tax preparer. The volunteer officers responsible for the return were not aware that the filing was due by May 15 following the close of the calendar year, and there was no intent to disregard the filing requirement. Upon learning of the requirement, the officers acted promptly to gather the necessary information and complete this return, which is being filed as soon as reasonably possible. The organization had no gross receipts or expenditures for the tax year, so no tax was due. To prevent recurrence, the board has assigned responsibility for annual IRS filings to the Treasurer and added the filing deadline to the organization's governance calendar. The organization respectfully requests that the late filing be excused for reasonable cause and not willful neglect.
