Our volunteers offer mentorship and resources to empower less economically developed communities for lasting change. ACHIEVEMENTS: Electricity Access Program: KWH advanced rural electrification in Zambia through construction, expansion, and operational support community energy kiosks. In 2025, KWH had an energy kiosk constructed in the off-grid Zambian village of Ntanga (for solar installation in 2026) and had a partner organization begin community engagement and training in the village of Libala. KWH further support the communities we are involved in through expanded appliances purchases, including four grain mills. Education Program: KWH continued its partnership with Seattle University by sponsoring a senior design project focused on improving solar-system design tools for rural energy kiosks. The organization funded the project and provided volunteer mentorship to a team of Throughout 2025, student made prograss on prototype development and integration potential for future kiosk planning. This program strengthened KWHs edcuational missiong while generating practical tools that support long-term technical sustainability. Mentoring and Evaluation Program: KWH and its Zambian partner organizations conducted field visits, surveys, and community focus groups to assess the social and economic impact of existing kiosks. During 2025 there was ongoing data collection, refinement of survey instruments, and analysis of kiosk usage patterns, business performance, and community benefits. These activities informed program adjustments, supported grant reporting, and strengthened KWHs evidence-based approach to rural electrification. Amplify Energy Access Grant Program: The Aplifying Energy Access Grant Program offers grants to support organizations that are strategically expanding their activities in the area of energy access. Caritas Lvingstone built the capacity of their staff and the off-grid community of Libala by holding a 3-day workshop.
