Fixed assets are expensed as incurred and are not capitalized. This change was made to improve the consistency and accuracy of the organization's financial reporting. Southeastern Swim Club respectfully requests abatement of penalties associated with the late filing of its Form 990 for the tax year ended August 31, 2024. The organization exercised ordinary business care and prudence in attempting to comply with its annual filing requirements. However, administrative continuity was disrupted due to changes in board membership. Additionally, the organization reasonably relied on an external preparer, and an administrative oversight resulted in delayed filing for FY23 and FY24. Upon discovery of the oversight, the organization took immediate corrective action by reviewing the incorrect return, comparing it to the financials and making necessary corrections. The organization has implemented procedures to ensure timely filing in future years. This was an isolated and unintentional occurrence. The organization remains committed to full compliance with all IRS filing requirements and respectfully requests consideration for penalty relief based on reasonable cause.
