<Desc>Bridges Summer STEAM Academy is a five-week summer enrichment program serving students entering grades 6 through 12. The program was created to give students a safe and supportive place to strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming school year while continuing to grow socially and emotionally. A key part of the Academy is the CSU Summer Algebra Institute for students entering grades 6 through 10. Through focused math instruction and hands-on learning, students strengthen foundational math skills, develop effective learning and problem-solving strategies, and prepare for Algebra and Geometry. Just as importantly, we work to help students become more confident in their abilities and see themselves as capable learners. The Academy goes beyond academics. Students are exposed to STEAM activities, college and career opportunities, and experiences that encourage teamwork, creativity, leadership, communication, and positive relationships with their peers. We intentionally create an environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, learn from their mistakes, and begin thinking about what is possible for their future. During 2025, approximately 90 students participated in the Summer STEAM Academy. For Bridges CEDC, the impact of the program is not only about what students learn during five weeks of summer. It is also about helping young people return to school with greater confidence, stronger academic foundations, and the encouragement to continue working toward their educational and future goals.</Desc>

<Desc>After School at Bridges provides academic and social support to students in grades 1 through 12 throughout the school year. The program primarily serves children and youth from Carson and surrounding communities within Los Angeles County, providing a safe and supportive place where students can receive the additional help, encouragement, and individual attention they may need to succeed in school. Students receive homework assistance, tutoring, academic advising, test preparation, and other educational support based on their individual needs. Because we recognize that academic success is connected to a student's overall well-being, the program also provides opportunities for students to build positive relationships, strengthen communication and social skills, and develop greater confidence in themselves as learners. After School at Bridges is also a place where students know they can come for help. Our goal is not simply to help a student complete an assignment or prepare for a test, but to provide consistent support throughout the school year that encourages students to take greater responsibility for their learning, work through academic challenges, and continue moving toward their educational goals. During 2025, more than 60 students participated in After School at Bridges. Through this program, Bridges CEDC continued to provide students and families with a dependable source of academic assistance, encouragement, and connection during the school year, helping young people build the skills, confidence, and support they need to continue progressing in school.</Desc>

<Desc>Bridges Community Resources Hub provides practical assistance and resources to families in Carson and surrounding underserved communities. Through the Hub, we help families meet everyday needs by providing food, household essentials, school supplies, hygiene kits, and other resources that can help ease some of the financial pressures families may be experiencing. Our goal is to make resources accessible in a welcoming and respectful environment where families can receive support with dignity. Throughout the year, Bridges works with community partners, donors, and volunteers to gather and distribute needed items and connect families with resources that support the well-being of their households. The Community Resources Hub also includes community outreach activities that bring families, service providers, and community partners together. Through our community outreach fair and other resource distributions, families have opportunities to learn about available services, receive needed supplies, and make connections to additional support within the community. During 2025, Bridges Community Resources Hub served more than 400 families, representing approximately 850 individuals. Through this work, Bridges CEDC continued to respond to immediate needs while strengthening connections with families and helping ensure that those we serve know they have a community resource they can turn to when they need support.</Desc>

<ExplanationTxt>Process for Reviewing Form 990: The organization has established a formal process for preparing and reviewing Form 990 to ensure accuracy and compliance. The process includes the following steps: 1. Preparation: The organization's financial and operational data is compiled by the Accountant. This includes gathering all necessary documentation and ensuring the information aligns with the organization's financial statements. 2. Initial Review: The draft Form 990 is reviewed by the organization's Executive Director to verify the accuracy of the data and ensure all required schedules and disclosures are included. 3. Board or Committee Review: A draft of Form 990 is presented to the organization's board of directors, who are given sufficient time to examine the form and ask questions or request clarifications. 4. Approval: After addressing any questions or concerns raised during the review process, the final version of Form 990 is approved by the board or committee. 5. Filing: Once approved, the Form 990 is signed by the Executive Director or Chairman of the Board and submitted to the IRS by the filing deadline. 6. Transparency: In some cases, the organization may also make the Form 990 available to its board members or the public for additional transparency.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflict-of-Interest Policy: The organization has a written conflict-of-interest policy that applies to all board members, officers, and key employees. The organization monitors and enforces compliance with the policy through the following procedures: 1. Annual Disclosure Statements: All board members, officers, and key employees are required to complete and sign an annual conflict of interest disclosure form. This form requires individuals to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including relationships with vendors, contractors, or other entities that may do business with the organization. 2. Review of Disclosures: The completed disclosure forms are reviewed by the Board Designate. Any potential conflicts identified are documented and evaluated to determine whether they require further action. 3. Meeting Discussions: At the beginning of each board or committee meeting, members are reminded of the conflict-of-interest policy and asked to disclose any conflicts related to agenda items. If a conflict is disclosed, the individual must recuse themselves from discussions and voting on the matter. 4. Documentation: All disclosures, recusals, and actions taken to address conflicts of interest are documented in the meeting minutes to ensure transparency and accountability. 5. Periodic Training: The organization provides periodic training to board members and key employees on the importance of the conflict-of-interest policy and their responsibilities under it. 6. Enforcement Actions: If a violation of the conflict-of-interest policy is identified, the Board Designate investigates the matter and takes appropriate corrective action, which may include counseling, reprimand, or other measures as deemed necessary.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>Process for Determining Compensation for the Executive Director: The organization follows a structured and transparent process to determine the compensation of the Executive Director, which includes the following steps: Compensation Committee Oversight: The board of directors or a designated compensation committee is responsible for overseeing the Executive Director's compensation process. Review of Comparable Data: The committee reviews compensation data for similar positions in comparable organizations. This includes examining salary surveys, Form 990 filings of peer organizations, and industry benchmarks to ensure the compensation is reasonable and aligned with market standards. Performance Evaluation: The committee conducts an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director. This evaluation considers the Executive Director's achievement of organizational goals, leadership effectiveness, and overall contribution to the organization's mission. Independent Decision-Making: Members of the compensation committee who have no conflicts of interest deliberate and make decisions regarding the Executive Director's compensation. The Executive Director does not participate in discussions or decisions related to their own compensation. Approval and Documentation: The final compensation package, including salary, benefits, and any bonuses, is approved by the board of directors. The organization documents the entire process, including the data reviewed, the basis for the decision, and the approval in meeting minutes. Periodic Review: The compensation is reviewed periodically to ensure it remains competitive and reasonable in light of the organization's financial position and market conditions.</ExplanationTxt>
