Other PT III, line 4a-c. Fame Jazz Band Program (FJBP) is more than just a band! It was established in 2015 as a community-based, year round program to proepare middle and high school students for college and career through a four-pronged approach: Music Instruction, Academic Support (tutoring), College Preparation, and Career Readiness. This tuition-free program offers students high caliber music and academic instrution and experiences 44 weeks per year. Weekly programming is held at FAME tech labs and partner locations. FJBP has three components: FAME Jazz Ensemble, FAME Jazz Band and Musicians in Training. The program currently serves up to 31 youth. FJBP provides oppotunities for students to showcase their talents, increase their academic skills, and learn the discipline needed for college and career success. All participants are selected through a live audition. Students perform on major stages, receive academic and college prep tutoring, and attend career readiness workshops during the school year, and participate in music technology and instrumental programs at Berklee College of music. The Univ of Maryland School of Music, The Julliard, and other music venues. This years graduates had a 3.8 GPA, 1190 SAT scores, all matriculted to college and 50% received full or partial scholarships. Other Summer Music program-since 2011, in partnership with the Univ of Maryland School of Music, FAME conducts intensive music technology and instrumental instruction workshops, and songwriting clinics for middle and high school students. Currently the program is held for 37.5 hours per week from 9 am to 4:30pm daily. The sessions are conducted at the University of Maryland College Park School of Music, at Public High schools, and MNCPPC/Parks & Recreatio venues. The program is designed to support youth,i.e. up to 200 students, and is attended by students from numerous states. Students receive certificates of completion. Other Music is Central began in 2004 and supports school-based and afterschool programs in the Greater Washington Region. Elementary, middle & high school students are supported with academic tutors, music workshops, guest musicians, instruments and other materials. FAME has three state of the arts tech labs at satellite locations to support these students: Upper Marlboro, MD(2022), District Heights (2023), and Fort Washington, MD(2024). Additionally FAME provides 2 scholarships annually to school teachers to support their classrooms or address student needs. Nine hundred ninty two (992) students were supported in this year.
