Based on this misunderstanding the return was prepared and submitted by mail rather than electronically. The IRS returned the filing on July 13 2026 which did not reach my mailbox until July 20th I was in New Orleans from July 10-15 2026 due to the unexpected passing of my sister. I was responsible for arranging funeral services with services held on July 20 2026. The foundation check mailbox at the end of the month. July was missed and the box was not checked until August 28,2026. At that time actions were taken to rectify the issue and file electronically
