We partnered with our local Mercer Island Youth and Family Services organization to make MBs available to families utilizing MIYFS emergency services, and worked together with MIYFS to explore possible grant opportunities. Changes to governing documents Part V line 34 By-laws were updated to set the executive committee at 5 members: President, Past President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer. Currently the President and Treasurer (Jerry and Michelle Kavesh, respectively) are related by marriage. To ensure the Executive Committee can outvote the married Officers, if needed, a resolution formalizing the size of the Exec Committee to 5 voting members was passed at the January 2025 Board meeting. PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Market Bucks MIFM supported people qualified for SNAP/EBT food programs and our vendors, with $20,000 distributed, and $18,440 redeemed, in the form of Market Bucks to spend at our weekly market. Held 17 Farmers Markets during the summer and fall season, with approximately 2,500 visitors / market. Hosted over 70 local vendors including farms, prepared food sellers and crafters. Weekly activities at the market included supporting sustainable farmers, childrens educational programs (led by an early childhood educator), and community education events.
