Shoulda conflict arise between annual signing, the person brings it up at a board meeting, we discuss it and the board decides based on the merits of the situation whether a conflict exists. If it decides there is a conflict, then the board also decides what needs to be done to eliminate the conflict. So far, we have not had any conflicts of interest. However, if we ever do, we will look at the job description, the number of hours required, the expertise needed to do the work, the qualifications of the applicant, and how much funds we have available. We would compare the position to similar size organization with similar missions to decide the compensation that is fair to both the employee and to the nonprofit.
