School aged children, students and adults, individually and in groups, viewed rotating exhibits and utilized the collections during the year to gain further insight, understanding and knowledge of our nation's heritage, patriotic traditions and significant historical events relating to the founding of our country and events in the 19th and 20th centuries. Our catalog utilizes the leading library automation software solution for special libraries. Built on a flexible and scalable backbone with a variety of powerful query and edit capabilities, it is capable of a keyword search across 100,000 records in less than one second. We performed conservation activities to promote preservation of books, manuscripts, photographs and artifacts for future generations. We hosted our electronic catalog on the Internet for the free use and benefit of the public. These items are on exhibit and utilized in special programs to help the public gain insight and understanding of patriotic traditions and significant historical events relating to the founding and heritage of our country, and significant events in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. At times items from the collection are lent for exhibition at other institutions. Contributions received of art, historical treasures and similar items are not reported as revenues (SFAS 116).
