<Desc>Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley: Safe Shelter provides safety, support, and resources to individuals and communities affected by domestic, dating, and family violence; abuse in later life; and human trafficking. Safe Shelter used this grant to significantly improve the quality, comfort, and readiness of their emergency shelter. They purchased 49 sets of linens, 30 blankets, and 12 packs of pillows, allowing them to replace worn, stained, or damaged bedding that was no longer suitable for residents. These new supplies ensured that every bed in the shelter could be outfitted with clean, comfortable, and dignified bedding, directly enhancing the safety and wellbeing of the survivors and children who rely on the shelter for refuge.</Desc>

<Desc>Winter Warmth Coat Drive: Annual coat drive to secure coats, scarves, gloves, boots, and blankets for distribution through the OUR Center. LRCF Funding was used to purchase coats in children's sizes that are not donated in large enough quantities during the coat drive to meet the need. Fishbowl: Monthly donations are made to local charities selected by nominations to the Longmont Rotary Fishbowl Committee. LRCF added $500/month to each donation. Born to Read Program: This all-volunteer program provides information and books to parents of newborns at Longmont United Hospital (LUH) and Longs Peak Hospital. Materials encourage reading aloud to infants and toddlers. Two board books suitable for an infant are included. Nurses in the Birth Place provide counsel and distribute the bags which are in English and Spanish. 1,289 bags were distributed in 2024, a 13.4% increase. Born to Read celebrated 33 years in 2025 and has been supported by Longmont Rotary since its beginning. Kids Fishing Program: Kids Fishing Day is a program run by the Breakfast Optimist Club of Longmont, introducing kids to fishing and the outdoors. Kids receive a free fishing pole with lunch available for kids, parents, and volunteers. This grant is for stocking Isaac Walton Pond with fish, purchasing rods and reels, and for serving lunch to kids and volunteers. In 2024, 250+ children and parents attended, and 150 fishing poles were distributed. 350 hot dogs, soda, and chips were consumed! The event is scheduled each year on a Saturday at the beginning of Spring Break. Habitat for Humanity ADU: Habitat for Humanity of the St Vrain Valley (St Vrain Habitat) was founded in 1988, since then they have built 125 new homes and completed 62 critical repairs. With each decade, they've doubled their impact and served more families. St Vrain Habitat purchased a home at 321 Atwood, near the Affiliate office at 303 Atwood. The goal is to house AmeriCorps Volunteers when they come to help the affiliate by building an additional dwelling unit on the property to house 6-8 AmeriCorps volunteers at a time. AmeriCorps has been de-funded, and Habitat is developing an Intern program in response. The ADU can also be used for transitional housing for families waiting for Habitat Home completion. This grant is to cover furnishings, supplies, etc. to outfit the buildings. <ExplanationTxt>Rotary District Matching Grant - Dolly Parton Imagination Library: Longmont Rotary has been a supporter of the Born to Read program since its inception 33 years ago. We heard from parents involved in this program that there was a larger need for books beyond birth. A partnership between Longmont Rotary, Born to Read, and the Longmont Community Foundation was formed to champion the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) in Longmont to address the need. This leverages the strength of DPIL existing systems and processes with the local support needed to provide free books to all children from birth to age 5 who have Longmont mailing addresses. This grant will help establish the Dolly Parton Imagination Library project in Longmont. Funding of $6,000 will support the cost of books and postage at $1.30/child/month, totaling 4,615 months, or 385 children for a full year. Hearing the Call: Hearing the Call Colorado (a Project of Hearing the Call, Inc.) provides access to hearing healthcare for low income, uninsured, and underinsured residents of Colorado through the volunteer service of professional audiologists across Colorado. Each audiology practice designates specific dates to open their clinic to provide hearing screenings and assessments for these low-income patients. Those who fail the hearing screens are referred for follow up care with the audiologist. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on household income to make them affordable and accessible for the patient. This grant will be used for services provided by Longmont Hearing & Tinnitus Center for patients who are residents of Longmont and the Vrain Valley. Hover Senior Living Community: Hover Senior Living Community has been a trusted resource in Longmont for more than 45 years, providing skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care in a warm, relationship-centered environment. We thrive to ensure that every older adult we serve feels safe, respected, and supported throughout their care journey. Current reclining chairs in the skilled nursing and rehabilitation area are old and are made of cloth materials. They have become difficult to sanitize, absorb moisture, and no longer support the infection-control standards required in healthcare settings. Residents entering Hover for short-term rehab often spend significant time in their recliners for therapy preparation, meals, rest, and social engagement. Replacing these chairs with durable, waterproof, medical-grade reclining chairs will significantly improve resident comfort, safety, and hygiene, while also reducing staff strain and cleaning costs.</ExplanationTxt>
