The Montessori curriculum was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori through 40 years of scientific research with young children. The Montessori curriculum, methos, and philosophy is cited in current educational literarture and research as embodying key learning skills identified for success in the 21st century. All faculty members are credentialed Montessori teachers, which means they have had extensive post-graduate education in child development, Montessori curriculum and philosophy. Additionally, they have been awarded the appropriate Montessori credentials for the age groups in which they teach. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B The business manager performs an initial review. Upon her approval, the Form 990 is made available to the governing board via web site access. The Board is given a week for review and comments, after which the return is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C The Organizations Board Chair reviews the conflict of interest policy and any possible changes affecting its status every year. Board members and the Head of School sign a statement annually regarding their indendence. Family and business relationships are specifically mentioned in the conflict of interest policy as being of a nature for potential conflicts. The Board as a whole monitors the policy and any Board member or officer who may be involved with a conflict will abstain from any decisions regarding the conflict. Compensation discussions are undertaken in closed sessions. The Executive Committee then recommends compensation to the full Board.
