Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4 In Fall of 2024, the organization changed the one year term of the officer positions from running Nov-to-Oct to run June-to-May to better coincide with the school year/graduation and the organization's fiscal year. Also, the organization changed its Annual Meeting from November to May of each year. Finally, the organization amended it's constitution to allow a person without a student in the program and possessing knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding non-profit fund accounting as well as related reporting, registrations, and tax filings with governmental entities to serve as Treasurer. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a The school district and principal of the high school have the authority to hire and/or terminate the Band Director, who is an ex officio member and officer of the Band Booster Club. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b All Executive Board members receive an electronic draft of the Form 990 and any associated Schedules and are provided the opportunity to review the documents and ask questions. The Board then votes to adopt, with any applicable amendments, the Form 990 and Schedules before submission to the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c On an annual basis, board members are required to fill out a conflict of interest form which is then reviewed by other board members. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 Supplemental compensation is given to the Band Director for managing summer marching band activity outside of their normal compensation from the school district. For other key staff (program and design coordinators, lead instructional staff) the Band Director determines the pay scale with consideration for current market conditions for this type of work. Per school district policy, staff are paid through the school district to ensure all necessary paperwork and background checks are completed and the booster organization reimburses the school district. Occassional designers for music etc may be paid directly by the organization and are issued Form 1099s as applicable.
