Lieutenant Wade Geistweidt is a brother ot Mark and Adam Geistweidt. Treasurer Gary Brodbeck and Captain Dyron Brodbeck are father and son. As officers, all five serve on the Executive Committee. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b The Doss Volunteer Fire Department has no governing body apart from the general membership other than an Executive Committee composed of 4 fire fighting officers and 4 executive officers. The Executive Committee meets monthly prior to the general meeting to review agenda items and discuss departmental needs. The Committee then makes recommendations to the general membership for their consideration and approval. On occasion the membership will authorize the Committee or appoint a subcommittee to proceed with a purchase or project without further approval. All matters of policy and major financial decisions are made by vote of the general membership. Minutes of all meetings are prepared by the Secretary and submitted for approval at the next monthly meeting. Financial reports are prepared by the Treasurer and submitted for approval on a monthly basis. Copies of minutes and financial reports and agendas are distributed to members in attendance at monthly meetings and made available to those who were absent. Nonagenda items may be introduced during the meeting for consideration and approval. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Copies of all Form 990s are kept on file in the Fire Department Office with unrestricted availability to all members wanting to review them. They are availabile to the public upon request.. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The governing documents and financial statements are kept on file in the Fire Station office and are available for review by the general public upon request. Form 990, Part VIII, Line 11d During the 2023 tax year the organization received $108,219 in insurance proceeds related extensive roof and exterior wall damage caused by a severe weather event at the end of fiscal year 2022. The damaged property is owned by the organization and leased to an independent operator who operates a country store an restaurant. The insurance proceeds are reported in Part VIII,Line 11d as other income and are not considered taxable income or unrelated business income. Repairs completed during FY 2023 totaled $56,798 and are reported in Part IX, Line 24c and allocated to Management and General Expense. The remaining $51,421 is being retained for future maintenance and contingency planning related to the leased property. The organization will continue to monitor and disclose the use of these funds in subsequent filings as appropriate.
