By empowering individuals through advocacy, collaboration, and tailored assistance, they are ensuring no one faces their cancer journey alone. 0 0 144741 13703 Patient Advocacy: In 2024, our community, state, and nation experienced an increase in cancer diagnoses. We believe this rise is largely due to the impacts of COVID-19, which led to many individuals being unable to receive treatment and screenings for various illnesses, some of which were later identified as cancerous. Many of these cases are now advanced, at stage IV or even metastatic. To make matters worse, the struggling economy has made it difficult for many patients to cover their basic household expenses. As a result, a number of patients are facing homelessness and food insecurity. On averagem we are oboarding 40 to 50 new patients each month, which totals approximately 600 patients for the year. Of this group, about 10% are currently grappling with these serious issues. Hope Abounds is continuously building foundational relationships to address the significant financial crises faced by many. We advocate with community, state, and national funding sources to secure "temporary" assistance for these hardship cases. 75216 Educational Programs: Hope Abounds Cancer Network is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Storehouse Wellness. This partnership will provide comprehensive wellness resources to Hope Abounds patients and caregivers. By focusing on the Four Pillars of Storehouse Wellness- nourishment, physical fitness, mental wellness, and financial health- patients will have access to various programs and resources from experts in each program's pillar of content. Hundreds of educational programs are designed to help maintain a high quality of life during treament and afer completion. On April 24, 2024, we hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) workshop for the College of Health & Human Services at UNCW. This program was presented to students, faculty, and alumni, providing essential education about genetic testing. It aimed to inform, inspire, and empower attendees to take a proactive approach to their health, particulartly regarding hereditary cancer risks within their families. We partnered with Myriad Genetics to introduce a Family History tool developed by Hope Aboutds to discuss how to access the services offered by Myriad Lab. 47598 Medical Navigation: To address the diverse needs of our patients, Hope Abounds has partnered with nationwide resources to provide medical navigation and educational support through Storehouse Wellness and home care services through Synergy. These services are available to all patients at any stage of their cancer diagnosis. Additionally, we offer palliative care services in collaboreation with the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center. This initiative provides essential medical oversight at home for patients diagnosed with stage III or IV cancer.
