Grounded in a client-centered, race equity-driven model, we provided holistic legal advocacy across housing, immigration, reentry, family law, and tribal legal systems. Our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and pro bono attorneys empowered tenants, farmworkers, tribal communities, immigrants, and justice-impacted individuals to access their rights and navigate complex legal systems.Quality and Quantity of Services: We closed over 1,400 cases, the highest in our organization's history, reflecting both increased community need and our strategic expansion beyond housing justice. Notably, more than half of these cases involved non-housing legal issueshighlighting our commitment to meeting the broad civil legal needs of the communities we serve.Expanding Access for Immigrants & FarmworkersFarmworker Legal Clinics & Outreach: Our weekly CCS Farmworker Center clinic remained a vital hub for legal services. Through expanded mobile outreach across Skagit, Whatcom, and San Juan Counties, we connected with nearly 5,000 farmworkers and immigrants, delivering legal education, rights trainings, and referrals.Identification & Immigration Support: In partnership with El Consulado de Mxico en Seattle, we supported hundreds of clients in obtaining Mexican passports, birth certificates, and consular IDscritical documents for legal and economic stability.Immigration Legal Representation: We expanded representation in U visa, asylum, and employment authorization matters, increasing both the capacity and quality of immigration services for noncitizen clients.Housing Justice & Tenant AdvocacyEviction Defense Counsel: As the primary provider of assigned counsel for tenants in Skagit, San Juan, and Island Counties, and conflict counsel in Whatcom County, we prioritized support for noncitizen tenants and those in marginalized housing situations.Holistic Housing Advocacy: Through our Housing Justice Project, we represented tenants in nontraditional housingincluding farmworker camps, motels, and employer-provided units.Rental Assistance Administration: In partnership with Skagit County Public Health, we administered emergency rental assistancetargeting tenants facing eviction and those without legal status.Reentry & Post-Conviction Legal ServicesVacatur & LFO Relief: We helped eliminate hundreds of thousands of dollars in court debt and secured vacaturs for formerly incarcerated clientsremoving barriers to employment, housing, and financial independence.Driver's License Reinstatement: Our advocacy led to the reinstatement of dozens of licenses, including for clients labeled Habitual Traffic Offenders or with private subrogation holds.Tribal Legal Services & Indigenous AdvocacyCoast Salish Tribal Practice Clinic: We launched a new legal education partnership with Seattle University School of Law and the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community to expand law student training and tribal court access.Judicial Accountability Reform: We offered legal analysis and support for establishing judicial and professional conduct standards in the Swinomish Tribal Court system.Monthly Tribal Legal Clinics: We provided family law, housing, and reentry services to tribal members through clinics led by staff, pro bono attorneys, and law students.Family & Financial SecurityFamily Law Advocacy: We prioritized Indigenous, farmworker, and immigrant clients in Skagit County and Swinomish Tribal Court, securing outcomes in divorces, custody, and protection order cases.Debt & Medical Relief: We obtained medical debt relief totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, particularly for Spanish- and Mixteco-speaking clients, preventing wage garnishments and court judgments.Building the Next Generation of Legal AdvocatesInterpreter Diversity Pipeline: In partnership with Whatcom Community College and the Administrative Office of the Courts, we are building a court interpreter certification program to increase linguistic access for Indigenous language speakers.Pro Bono Engagement & TrainingHosted three CLEs: Law Day & Pro Bono Publico, Asylum 101, and Boldt at 50: Treaty Fishing Rights.Recognized Martha Muldowney (Volunteer of the Year) and El Consulado de Mxico en Seattle (Community Partner of the Year).Over 20 pro bono attorneys provided services
