This year, the school hired 2 full time teachers and 2 part time teachers to fulfill this mission. These teachers offered classes in Literature, History, Latin, Philosophy, Theology, Math, Astronomy, Choir and Art. To fulfill this mission, the organization hired highly qualified individuals including on with a PhD and the other two with Masters in liberal arts studies. Further, the organization also rented out space in the Bethany House in Jackson, MI. Tuition for these services did generate revenue for the organization. 14697 0 0 The second major program achievement of the organization this year was the development of the curriculum for the educational program. The organization invested in classical books, a set curriculum through the CSN, materials for its arts and science program, a writing program, and more. As the organization maintains a low technology philosophy of education, investments in books are critical. Further, the organization began to implement standardized testing in the form of the CLT exam to measure its growth over the years. 6451 0 0 The third and final achievement of the organization during the year was the providing of cultural events to further our students' education. The organization believes that education is not just done in the classroom but through a lived experience of the true, the good, and the beautiful. Therefore, events such as family liturgical celebrations, concerts, and pilgrimages are critical to a child's education. The organization achieved this vision by hosting events such as three concerts, an opening Mass, and an Advent celebration. To enhance the celebration of these events, the organization provided light refreshments. Furthermore, the organization also invest in an annual pilgrimage to the March for Life in Washington DC. This trip helps form in students the "Cultura Vitae" that is the motto of the organization. The school includes the following policy on its admissions page which is readily visible to all families applying to the school: The Chesterton Academy of St. George admits students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Form 990, Part III, Line 2 In July 2022, the Chesterton Foundation opened its educational program for students in grades 9-10. The previous tax year, January 1, 2022 - June 30, 2022 the organization was primarily focused on setting up this program. With the opening in July 2022, the organization completed that work and actually began to run the program by hosting students, offering classes, retreats, extracurricular opportunities in more. As such, this marked the actual beginning of the work for the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The form 990 is compiled by the Vice President, Mr. Matthew Anderson. It is then sent out to the board of directors for review, who have 48 hours to return comments. Further, advice is sought from a professional lawyer on the form to ensure accuracy. If a decision needs to be made regarding a director that would involve the conflict of interests policy, that director is asked to leave the board meeting. For instance, when determining the compensation of Mr. Matthew Anderson, Mr. Anderson was not present in the meeting as the board members discussed and determined an appropriate, market value amount. For instance, for the Headmaster position, it found from several schools that the average compensation was $80,000 per year. This research was done when Mr. Anderson was hired on 2022. St George Foundation for the Classics n 500 The St. George Foundation for the Classics and the Chesterton Foundation of St. George share a offices at 1000 E Porter St in Jackson MI. These two organizations work closely together. Therefore, they may have shared things like envelopes, office supplies, postage and the like, but not over $500. The organization only received formal written notice of status as a 501(c)3 organization in August of 2024. Since then, the organization has been working on catching up with all required 990 filings.
