Promoting a cultural life that entertains and educates our audience. The Emelin presents numerous world class events including music, comedy, dance, and family theater, plus a selected range of independent and contemporary film. Well-known for high-quality and affordable programs, the Emelin has 257 seats and is one of the few performing arts venues in the region providing a broad mix of entertainment appealing to all ages and tastes, attracting audiences from Westchester County and beyond. PART 3, LINE 4A Program Revenue (Earned Income) during FY2024-2023, was higher than FY2023-2022. During 2024-2023, the Emelin increased the number of performances vs. the prior year. We also increased the percentage of paid occupancy at our performances compared to the prior year. However, the number of performances and paid occupancy continues to be lower than pre-pandemic levels. The average ticket price in FY 2024-2023 was slightly lower than FY 2023-2022 given our careful curation of artists and desire to attract audiences with affordable prices. Public and Private Support (Contributed income) and Special Events results were lower than FY2023-2022 which benefited from the generous donor support of celebrating the Emelin's 50th anniversary Gala during that fiscal year. The FY2024-2023 operating expenses were adversely impacted by inflation across most expense categories including increases in artist fees and utility costs. We also incurred increased hiring costs and search fees to replace and add personnel in several key positions including a new Executive Director and several full and part-time marketing and box office personnel. Compensation expense in FY2024-2023 was higher than FY2022-2023 due to the increased number of performances and the hiring of new personnel previously discussed. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b Drafts of the Form 990 and audited financial statements are sent to Board members for review and comments prior to approving these documents at a Board of Directors meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Annually, the Emelin Theatre Board members, which include the officers, and the Executive Director are required to sign an Acknowledgement of Receipt of the Conflict of Interest Policy which states the Board member has read and understands the policy and agrees to comply with the policy. In addition, annually the President and Treasurer review the list of existing vendors and plans to add new vendors with the Executive Director to determine if there may be the potential of undisclosed conflicts of interests. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The Executive Director's compensation is discussed with an independent party and based on industry data and salary comparisons. Salaries of other employees are researched against industry salary data and job responsibilities.
