This is a small organization and there was no one to replace her at that time. In addition, her mother was hospitalized several times during 2022 for cardiopulmonary emergencies and spent a total of 3 months in the hospital and needed significant care from Lisa to recover. These life emergencies had lasting effects of the ability of the organization to maintain its public services and to fundraise. With lower than normal fundraising for 2022, it was not possible to hire outside assistance. American Judo Foundation regrets being unable to satisfy the tax reporting in 2022 and is working diligently to bring the tax records up to date. Though we realize that there are late filing fees related to these returns, we ask that they be waived as the organization does not have funds available to pay these fees, and paying late fees would significantly impact our ability to host charitable events. We are the only organization in South Carolina that hosts judo events providing a means of fulfilling the Olympic aspirations of youth and amateur athletes in the southeast region. Without this organization, the Southeast region would not produce national caliber athletes to represent the region at national judo event or within the Pan-American and International competition circuit. We ask that these late fees be waived to help us continue to provide quality training and competition experiences for youth and amateur athletes in the southeast region.
