A Notice of Grant Award (NOA) form is submitted which outlines the objective(s) of planned activities, documentation required and expected results. Once submitted, each NOA is subject to a two-step review process with a final NOA approval by a committee assembled for document review purposes. 2. A budget narrative is prepared for each local CASA program. The budget narrative (form and document provided by the state) lists planned expenditures, budget balance and any budget anticipated to be unspent. 4. A quarterly report is also mandated by the state and focuses on data collection relevant to dollars spent targeted to specific underserved populations. 5. Requests for Reimbursement (RFR) are submitted by each local CASA program for funds expended during the prior month or months. A budget summary is included in each RFR showing the approved budget numbers by category, spend by category, and budget balance by category. Each entry must be supported by invoices, contracts, MOUs, brief description, etc. Each entry is reviewed by NV CASA personnel for compliance with proper category assignment, brief description of each expense and supporting documentation. NV CASA personnel then review the RFR against each local program's approved budget and NOA prior to final approval by the review committee. Once this process is complete, a check is prepared and monies are reimbursed from NV CASA to the local program. Form 990, Part I, Line 1 The organization supports Nevada local CASA programs which recruit, train, retain and deploy volunteers to advocate for abused or neglected children. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The draft form 990 is emailed to the board to review and approve at a board meeting before the 990 form is finalized and transmitted to the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The organization has board members complete a conflict of interest form and it relies on the honor system. An officer, director and/or key employees need to self disclose a potential conflict of interest during a board agenda discussion. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The Executive Director's compensation is reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors as part of the annual budget process. The current Executive Directors compensation was established in the Spring of 2024 during the recruitment to fill the Executive Director position. This review was based upon a review of comparable responsibilities of similar sized organizations.
