Members are encouraged to participate in NASRC initiatives designed to address specific barriers preventing the widespread adoption of natural refrigerants. Most of The Organizations activities fall under three core areas: workforce development, funding and incentives, and education. During 2024, the Organization launched the R-TRADE program to deliver solutions that improve recruitment, training, and retention for refrigeration technicians. Under that program, NASRC organized three natural refrigerant training summits and one training workshop that each offered multiple days of free training for refrigeration technicians on the latest natural refrigerant technologies. The four events, hosted in Irwindale, CA, Pittsburgh, PA, Seattle, WA, and Stockton, CA, collectively trained more than 650 refrigeration technicians. NASRC also launched a technical training program, a student career fair program, and an HVACR school faculty training program to advance R-TRADE. Separately, NASRC served as the third-party administrator of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) F-gas Reduction Incentive Program (FRIP), which provides incentives to support the replacement of high Global Warming (GWP) Potential HFC equipment with ultra-low GWP refrigeration equipment across California. The Organization also supported the development of similar programs in other states.
