These volunteers donated over 98,000 hours of baking time, resulting in 38,628 loaves of bread, a 10% increase year over year, and 80,052 Grab 'N Go Energy Cookies a 30% donation increase year-over-year. The organizational support needed to keep this program growing and thriving includes website development, ongoing outreach to both existing and potential bakers and food banks, leadership development for the management of our 66 neighborhood hubs and 44 food bank partners, and supply management - securing, organizing, and delivering the flour and packaging supplies used by our volunteer bakers once a month. In August 2024, we launched hub leadership discussion groups. Organizing our 60+ community hubs into smaller leadership teams that would meet quarterly. These teams give Community Loaves a more dynamic forum for idea exchange, program development and leadership connection. In 2024, we began the R&D on two new bread formulas, which have since been launched in Winter and Spring of 2025. The new bread options give volunteer bakers more choices on what to bake and provide our food bank partners with increased variety for their clients. In 2024, we expanded our network by adding 11 new community hubs and 6 new food bank partners. Additionally, in 2024, we hired a new part-time team member, a warehouse supervisor, to oversee our flour fundraising efforts. A survey of our food-bank partners provided valuable feedback on how vital our program has become to their ability to serve their clients. Whole-grain freshly baked sandwich bread and energy cookies are in short supply, and amidst increasing client loads at our community food banks, our donations have become increasingly necessary. 0 0 0 Community Kitchens Program: This program creates additional volunteer baking opportunities by developing dedicated baking spaces, aka kitchens. Having these additional spaces serves multiple objectives. One objective is to provide more shared learning opportunities. Up to six volunteers can participate, engage, and bake communally in the kitchens. Volunteers are mentored on bread techniques and socialize with other participants. Another objective is larger donations to the food bank. The combined efforts from a larger dedicated kitchen space yield significantly larger donations for the food bank. And finally, reduced barriers to participation. Hosting baking sessions in a Community Kitchen allows us to remove participation costs for the volunteer. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Our conflict of interest policy is read, reviewed, and renewed by the board of directors as a whole at the beginning of each year. All board members are made aware of the policy and are encouraged to edit and resubmit statements throughout the year as needed. A conflict of interest must be promptly and fully disclosed upon becoming a member or officer, annually, or whenever an actual or potential conflict arises. The board evaluates the disclosures to determine if they involve actual conflicts of interest and will follow procedures in the conflict of interest policy if a conflict exists. The person with the conflict of interest does not participate in, and is not present for a vote regarding, the transaction or arrangement involved. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 All of our governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements were made available on request. We did not have any requests for this information in 2024. We filed for the 2024 990 extension BY MAIL on 4/15/25. Our director was already in France. We never received a notification of acceptance. Then on June 12, 2025 our director talked with the filing office and they said they had no record of the extension being filed. They said, on June 12th, that we could fax the form and proof, i.e., a picture of the envelope date-stamped and/or a certified receipt. However, we did not send the extension in a certified way. We were thus coached to provide a reasonable cause statement when we filed. So, here is our reasonable cause statement. We are continuing to advance our work with a limited team, mostly volunteers and we're doing our best to meet all obligations. Please accept our apologies for the late filing.
