For each applicant, we check whether committee members have any conflict of interests. If they do, they do not participate in the vote on awards. We have a scoring rubric to evaluate grant applicants and make recommendations, a reoccurring time to convene monthly, and policies requiring additional requirements for grants above certain thresholds. The rubric asks for details about amount and type of support requested, how the support will level the economic playing field, how the grant will fill needs that would not be met otherwise, whether there will be an opportunity for PROG-related individuals to volunteer in connection with the activity, etc. All requests are made via www.PROGFoundation.org or through an internal process that goes to the giving committee for consideration. opportunity in the community. We continue building the PROG Development Center and navigating a community-based participatory process, engaging our youth advisory, Emerging Voices and steering councils, and engaging with cross-sector partners to co-designing programs to serve an urban center of Utah that will provide the youth the ability to enhance socio-economic opportunity. The Foundation has recently started granting funds to organizations recognized by the IRS as organizations exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code that support our mission: develop the people and resources necessary to level the playing field through technology, education, and development that enhances socio-economic opportunity. PROG Holdings donated $479,141 of employee time and other services to the Foundation and has also engaged in providing support through volunteering efforts for 501(c) (3) and community organizations through various service projects at the PROG Development Center, within Utah and across the nation.
