The dam was partially blocking fish passage on this tributary of the Clackamas River. Removing the dam opened 8 miles of habitat for spawning and rearing for listed species of salmon and steelhead. CRTU hired contractors and coordinated with the local watershed council to remove the dam and improve the bank stabilization on the landowners property. 189856 189856 186337 Youth Fly Fishing and Conservation Camp CRTU operates a camp for boys and girls age 10-14 every summer. Campers learn the basics of fly fishing, fly tying, fish anatomy, and watershed education. The camp is operated as a 4-day, 3-night remote camping experience where volunteers provide instruction and supervision for campers to learn in a remote environment. Members pay a membership fee to Trout Unlimited, the National Organization however the chapter does not receive any of these membership dues. Part III, Line 2 Cub Creek Restoration Phase II: The project expanded on Phase I work by reconnecting a flood plain at the confluence of Cub Creek and the Clackamas River. Contractors were hired to regrade the old disconnected flood plain and redirect Cub Creek into the historic flood plain. Over 800 pieces of large wood were added to the flood plain to create additional spawning and rearing habitat for listed salmon and steelhead. The lower 2 miles of Cub Creek had become incised with very little fish habitat due to previous logging practices and large fires in 2020.
