Since its inception, HAE has successfully conducted two medical missions, during which our team performed an impressive 122 life-saving cardiac interventions. These interventions include essential procedures such as Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCIs), Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Permanent Pacemaker (PPM) implantations, and Cardiac Ablations, all aimed at improving the health and quality of life for those in need. In August 2024, Heart Attack Ethiopia Inc., together with the Children's Heart Fund of Ethiopia (CHFE), St Paul's Millennium Medical College / St Peter's Specialized Hospital, and Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital (TASH), completed its second lifesaving mission. The team carried out 90 advanced cardiovascular procedures, including open-heart surgeries, at a total cost of $1.5 million, a figure that reflects generous in-kind donations of medical supplies. As a volunteer-run organization, we experienced staffing capacity constraints while also completing a data migration to new accounting software. In addition, the complexity of coordinating international mission activities increased the time required to reconcile financial records and finalize reporting. We have implemented process improvements to strengthen recordkeeping and ensure timely filing going forward.
