Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 1a The entire board of the Houston Marathon Committee meets quarterly. The four-member executive committee meets monthly. Minutes are kept for the executive committee and distributed to the entire board. The board reviews all decisions the executive committee makes at the next board meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Executive Director, Treasurer, and Controller review the return. A copy of the return is provided to the Board prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Houston Marathon Committee provides each employee with a handbook containing information about the organization's conflict of interest policy and asks them to read it thoroughly. Employees are required to sign to acknowledge receipt of the handbooks. This process is repeated when updates are made to the handbook. When persons join the Board of Directors, they must sign and disclose any conflicts. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a The Board of Directors Human Resources Committee determines the compensation for the Executive Director. This four-person committee annually reviews the budget and the economic and business conditions of the Houston area and recommends compensation to the entire Board. The Board votes to approve the Executive Director's compensation. Compensation for all other officers and employees is determined by the Human Resources Committee of the Board of Directors based on recommendations of the Houston Marathon Committee's Executive Director. Form 990, Part IX, Functional Expenses All employees are leased from Insperity PEO Services.
