This number increases dramatically during the tourist season. Key Largo has tropical storm and hurricane seasons as well as a dry/fire season. These services are provided in 2 locations in Key Largo. The KLVFD is tasked with the responsibility for fire, rescue, and EMS services in Key Largo as well as the incident command center, emergency operations center and shelter during tropical storms and hurricanes as well as for any hazardous or radioligcal emergencies from any accidents at the nearby Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. These services are provided by 19 full time firefighters and over 11 volunteers.
