What we do especially well is highlight present-day artists who build on the traditional craftwork of their communities using a nuanced and contemporary vocabulary. Our programs educate audiences, including school aged youth and senior citizens. We have recently expanded our programs to other groups of individuals traditionally unable to participate in making a craft kit that is designed to reflect the techniques, materials and subject matter of the exhibition they have toured. The exhibition of their work and the associated programs give artists the opportunity to interact with audiences and to teach about their own cultures. Participants have the opportunity to increase thier understanding of a variety of different traditions.
