Its purpose is to provide services and networking to support and promote Maine companies with products, services, or projects related to climate solutions, and to support and assist companies that want to do more on climate change, clean energy, and related work. CWM's overall objective is to strengthen the image or brand of Maine as a place to bring and build businesses focused on climate impacts with a network of businesses who share similar ideas and a workforce and economy prepared to support the industry. 0 0 135205 1404 In 2024, ClimateWork Maine (CWM) experienced significant growth, adding new programs and staff all dedicated to advancing our mission while preparing for the challenges that face us in 2025. The Summit on Maine's Economy & Climate Change 2024 demonstrated CWM's credibility and track record of success in not only our mission, but our vision. 475 attendees, 55 exhibitors, 31 partners, 11 sessions, 41 speakers, and 3 new Climate awardees Catalyst, Performance, Innovation - were featured at that Summit. CWM webinars emerged as an important resource for businesses across the State, providing insights and up-to-date information on the climate and the economy. With more than 335 companies participating across 6 sessions in 2024 alone, these webinars provided participants with valuable knowledge on how to adapt their business strategies in response to evolving environmental, economic, and energy policies and programs.In 2024, ClimateWork Maine worked with three institutions to provide interns real life experience in the business world. 1. First, CWM supported the ReMaine Internship program as an entry point into clean energy jobs in Maine, with a particular focus on women or persons of color.2. Second, the University of Maine School of Economics provided CWM with two students to assist with research projects for the Spring 2024 semester.3. Third, the UNE Summer Sustainability Fellowship program paired students and recent graduates with local municipal, business, and non-profit community partners (host organizations) to collaborate on specifically designed sustainability projects. In 2024, CWM created the Sustainability Council to bring together individuals within our Member businesses who are responsible for sustainability efforts or are recognized as leaders in this area. 45 companies and organizations enrolled and the first meeting was held in October 2024. The Sustainability Council offered a platform for businesses to connect, learn, and share their insights, best practices, and lessons learned, helping fellow businesses and organizations grow in their sustainability journey.In 2024, CWM also: Hosted two local-Chamber CEO roundtables to showcase companies taking action on climate change, preparing for the future, and taking care of their businesses - all at the same time. Moderated multiple partner event panels with businesses facing climate economic upheaval head-on and turning challenges into opportunities. Served on the advisory team for a new workforce development program aiming to put 300 workers onto high-skill, high-wage career pathways in the field of renewable energy. Spoke at New England's largest renewable energy gathering to again highlight Maine's business leadership. Were recognized as Camden National Bank Leaders & Luminaries who go above and beyond to dedicate themselves to strategic leadership and advancing their organizations and members. Served on working groups to advance climate goals and strategies related to resilience, natural resource, community planning, and education to advance clean energy, buildings decarbonization, and clean transportation initiatives and associated job and economic benefits. Partnered with a new climate tech incubator to present case studies of enterprise and multi-national companies doing work in Maine with a sustainability focus, and local companies that have grown practices and roles dedicated to sustainability and GHG reduction.Supported one of Maine's newest startup accelerators located in Waterville, Maine.
