The current state of cancer care highlights several major challenges: lack access to clinical trials and the benefits that accrue from them; disharmony slowing the development and regulatory approval of treatments; and inadequate global infrastructure and collaboration.It is generally accepted that harmonization is important but a targeted and focused effort to achieve this goal is lacking. In response, HARMONY is fostering a global collaborative. With ten million cancer patient deaths annually, it is time to accelerate the goal of building this global network of allies to expedite and coordinate global cancer clinical trials and identify areas of congruence among principal regulatory agencies around the world. Understanding and overcoming challenges in implementing best practice guidelines for molecular testing can support better diagnosis and guide treatment decisions. "Incorporating Molecular Testing to Support Personalized Cancer Care" is a three-part educational program that focuses on the adoption of best practice guidelines and incorporating evidence from an MD Anderson Cancer Network Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement (PI/QI) program (a program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center). Piloted at two Cancer Network sites, this PI/QI program aimed to optimize the use of molecular testing in thyroid and lung cancers 474 STO's initiative, Racial Disparities in Cancer Care, acknowledges the disproportionate burden certain US groups face in cancer rates, screenings, diagnosis, and survival. It strives to heighten awareness, identify treatment obstacles, and encourage healthcare professionals to advance change. This initiative, stemming from the "Addressing Racial Disparities in Cancer Care" educational program, aims to prepare healthcare teams to alleviate racial disparities in cancer patient care. Resources from these activities remain available as an educational tool.
