The Library has a three fold mission of serving as an archive, as a museum and as an educational and public policy center. It is recognized as one of the premier Congressional libraries in the United States. Since the founding of the Library, the Margaret Chase Smith Foundation has provided financial support of the Library via funding to Northwood University.
