Over the tax year the fellowship provided over 300 hours of programming to 30 student-artists and reached an additional 110 youth through workshops and educational events. The program emphasized diversity by engaging participants from under-resourced neighborhoods in Philadelphia with a focus on BIPOC women and nonbinary creatives. The fellowship program included: Summer Accelerator: Focused on music production branding and marketing financial literacy and personal development. Students completed hands-on projects such as composing beats scoring film scenes and creating marketing plans for their personal brands. Internships: Participants gained real-world experience interning at local music studios media organizations and other creative businesses logging over 640 hours collectively. Mentorship and Professional Development: Guest speakers and mentors including producers entertainment lawyers and engineers provided specialized lessons on music business topics. Capstone Projects: Students applied their skills to community-focused initiatives such as scoring scenes for local documentaries or composing music for public campaigns. Key outcomes of the fellowship included: 100% of participants reported increased confidence and competence in music production budgeting and branding. 82% of participants attended more than 90% of the programming sessions. Student-artists collectively created over 7 completed tracks sold beats to local artists and earned income through performances and freelance opportunities. One participant negotiated a $500 placement for a beat in a commercial campaign with Tierra Whack supported by mentorship from an entertainment lawyer. FamFrequency Productions provided all participants with essential equipment including laptops headphones and software to ensure equitable access to the tools necessary for success.
