Fr. Mario Pezzi. In 2023, financial assistance totaling $63,607 was allocated to support 467 young individuals attending World Youth Day (WYD) in Lisbon, Portugal. This funding aimed to promote the New Evangelization by facilitating their participation in this significant global event. World Youth Day is an international gathering of young people with the Pope, serving as a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, and an expression of the universal Church. It offers an intense moment of evangelization for the youth worldwide. Although its Catholic identity is evident, WYD opens its doors to everyone, regardless of their proximity to the Church. The funds provided covered various expenses associated with attending WYD, such as transportation, accommodation, meals, and registration fees. By assisting these 467 young individuals in attending WYD 2023, the allocated funds played a crucial role in promoting the New Evangelization.
